It is our expectation that pupils will complete their home learning. Failure to do so results in a K code being issued by the subject teacher. Three K codes results in an after-school detention.

YEAR 7:

This Homework equates to about an hour a night.

Subject

Length of time per week

English

One session per week of learning information from the KO in the curriculum booklet lasting 20 minutes.

Reading

20 minutes every day (see separate letter for book choices)

Maths

A 10-minute daily homework on Hegarty Maths or TTRS. Once a week a 30 minute Hegarty Maths session 

Science

A five to 10-minute quiz after every lesson

 

Humanities

One ten-minute quiz once a week

 

MFL French and Spanish

One ten-minute weekly vocabulary quiz per subject

Plus:

Twenty minutes of practise per week each subject on Active learning

 

 

Years 8 and 9:

This equates to about an hour and a quarter a day

KS4 Home Learning

This equates to about an hour and a half a day

English

Pupils will be issued with a homework booklet with weekly tasks to complete.

Pupils should spend one hour a week.

Reading

20 minutes every day.

In addition to choosing fiction texts, pupils will be encouraged to read non-fiction articles related to their GCSE subjects to extend their knowledge.

Maths

A ten minute daily Hegarty Maths quiz

Once a week a 30 minute Hegarty Maths session

Science

A five-10-minute quiz after every lesson or Tassomai

 

Humanities

A weekly quiz, including exam style questions which should take 30 minutes

MFL French and Spanish

One ten- minute weekly vocabulary quiz per subject

Thirty minutes of practise per week each subject on Active learning

 

Other Option Subjects

These subjects will set homework when required at their discretion.
