Year 11 Maths

Term 5

Year 11 there is no longer any requirement to complete any outstanding maths work.  You have all worked really hard and I am super impressed with you.  As you are all aware Mrs Hanmore has put together a comprehensive timetable for you which focuses on your future and your should be using this now to inform you of what work to be doing and how to keep yourselves busy.

Having said that the maths department and all it’s teachers are still here if you should need us for anything, do not hesitate to be in touch.

Maths Home Learning Page Monday 23rd March - 16th April

In order to support you all in achieving the best grades you are all capable of gaining I have put together some resources for you to use at home.  There are a number of ways in which you can continue to learn even though you are at home and the material I have provided you with will enhance these. Below is a description of the various methods to further revise and a link to any materials which support these methods.  In addition to using these methods you would need to think about your strategies for revising key facts which you are currently struggling to remember, such as, flashcards, mind maps, revision mats, posters, post it notes around you room / house.

If you need any support or guidance please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards
Mrs S. Thompson

WORKSHEETS

By analysing your mock results I have identified key topics which after analysis of previous papers appear more frequently than others.  The worksheets provided are made up of past paper exam questions, I have also provided you with an answer sheet so that you can check your work as you go.

PAST PAPERS

A number of past papers for you to have a go at with the answers as well so that you can mark them after completion.  I would suggest that you time yourself when doing these so that you can ensure that you practise making perfect use of the time allowed.  Don’t forget the following key points;

  • practising how to check your work – think ‘is my answer logical’, check your calculations, check you have enough working out by looking at the marks the question is worth
  • identify common areas of weakness to further inform your revision
  • practise different coping strategies for completing the exams – working normally from the front to the back, working in reverse if you get tired easily, reading through the whole exam and identify questions you feel really confident with, tackle these and then go back and complete the remaining questions

AIMING FOR BOOKLET

These booklets are very comprehensive and are full of topics at certain key grades.  Use your knowledge of your target grade and the grade you achieved on your recent mock to identify which booklet you should use.  Completing the whole booklet may feel a little overwhelming and so I would suggest that you look at more than one topic in any one session.  Again I have also provided you with the answers so that you can check your work as you go.

GAP ANALYSIS BOOKLET

Use your new and your old gap analysis booklet to identify your personal areas of weakness.  You can use Hegartymaths or any of your chosen sites / resources to revise these topics.

HEGARTYMATHS

You can use Hegartymaths by

  • Completing any outstanding tasks you may have, or new ones your teacher sets
  • Using fix up 5 or memri
  • Searching your areas of weakness
