This term you will continue working on our ‘Sports performer in action’ unit. The focus of the work will continue to be around the way that the body responds to exercise both in the short term and the long term. We will then begin to look at the way that the energy systems of the body work during different events to make sure that athletes can perform at their maximum. Each week you will have powerpoint instructions sent via teams telling you exactly what needs completing that week and you will have your timetabled live lesson with your teacher. Please make sure that you are keeping up to date with both of these and sending in your work and assessments to meet all your deadlines.

Term 5

You will find attached a power point that will guide you through the first week of you work on our next piece of coursework. This piece of work is all based on how the body responds to exercise. Each week you will have a powerpoint uploaded that should guide you through the tasks that are expected of you. If things are not clear or you are struggling in anyway then please do let us know, this is covered in our expectations slide. If you are unable to complete the work for any reason once again please let us know. All of the teachers emails for this course are included in the power point, however I am more than happy for you to email me directly.

Finally if you are a student who was given access to to help with retake you should be doing this as well as the coursework that was set. I can see that only a small number of you are doing this. This revision is vital for when you retake the exam.

Please make sure that you have completed all work that has been set for you so far and that you have emailed your teacher the most recent copy of your work.

For week 4 please use the powerpoint that is attached below. This work is questions and note taking in preparation for the next parts of your coursework therefore please do not save it as part of your coursework. You can either type it and call it ‘sports performer in action notes’ or handwrite it in your home learning book. As always there are links in the work to help you, however this week is going to involve you doing a bit more independent thinking.

At the end of this week you will still need to email this work to your teacher so that we can see how you are getting on, therefore please lay your page out clearly with headings and sections so that we can see what you are actually answering.

Year 10

You need to be working on your performance analysis section of your unit 2 coursework. In this section you have been asked to pick out the key technical, tactical and fitness components related to both badminton and basketball and rate your ability (however you have chosen to do this). The idea of the unit is then to improve on your weaknesses.

Once you have been through the process of scoring yourself for each of the areas you have chosen you need to explain the impact of this on your game play. From this section you should be able to write a brief summary of your strengths and weaknesses.

After identifying what your strengths and weaknesses are you will need to come up with practices/drills/training sessions that can be used to improve that weakness. Explain the practice either in pictures or words and then explain the impact of improving that weakness on your game play.

If you have finished the first piece of coursework on reviewing your practical performance and emailed it to your teacher (you must do this, if you cant find their email please send it to me) then please use the attached powerpoint to work in your home learning books in preparation for starting the next unit. It contains key words and questions that you will need to know the answer to in order to achieve Distinctions in our second unit.
