Term 6

Term 6 – Year 10 Food

As of Term 6 all work will be set by your Food teacher through weekly assignments sent to you on Microsoft Teams. The work sent to you will have a PowerPoint lesson attached to it for you to read through.

You will need to:

  1. Read through the PowerPoint lesson and complete the tasks in your AO4 Food Workbook that was posted home to you.
  1. When you have completed the work you will need to photograph it and send it back to your subject teacher through Teams or by email. 

To upload your work on Teams, on the assignment click on ‘Add work’ and attach your photo.

Your subject teacher will then be able to offer you feedback.

Term 5 

In this unit of work you will learn about different types of bacteria in more detail and the effects they have on the human body. You will also learn about other types of contaminates that can get into food during production, cooking or serving the final dish.

Alongside this you will learn the role of the EHO and laws and legislation that all Hospitality and Catering establishments have to follow.

You will go through each of the Assessment Objectives over the next 7 lessons, attempting exam style questions as you go.

You can either complete the booklets electronically or have a printed out copy to fill in by hand.

 The specific Units are detailed below.

AO4 Know how food can cause ill health

AC4.1 describe food related causes of ill health

AC4.2 describe the role and responsibilities of the Environmental Health Officer (EHO)

AC4.3 describe food safety legislation

AC4.4 describe common types of food poisoning

AC4.5 describe the symptoms of food induced ill health

If you have the opportunity and access to ingredients try some practical work and email me some pictures of your finished work.

Food Home Learning Page Monday 23rd March - 16th April

Year 10 - Food

Year 10 pupils need to read over one whole section from one of  the Power points of class notes. Then you should attempt to answer the related questions from the quizzes on the corresponding word document.

Look back over the notes and mark using a different colour. This will show you where the gaps in your knowledge are for future revision.

Revise the Assessment Objectives that you are not very good at. Do not waste time revising things you already know.
