Year 8 Food

Term 6

As of Term 6 all work will be set by your Food teacher through weekly assignments sent to you on Microsoft Teams. The work sent to you will have a PowerPoint lesson attached to it for you to read through.

You will need to:

  1. Read through the PowerPoint lesson and complete the tasks in your Term 6 Food booklet that was posted home to you.
  1. When you have completed the work you will need to photograph it and send it back to your subject teacher through Teams or by email. 

To upload your work on Teams, on the assignment click on ‘Add work’ and attach your photo.

Your subject teacher will then be able to offer you feedback.

Term 5 

In this unit of work, you will learn about energy balance in relation to diet and stages in your life. Alongside this you will learn about the 5 main nutrients that are stored in the food we eat and what the functions of these nutrients are for the human body.

You will also get to explore in more detail specific dietary requirements that people may have or choose to have regarding the food they can and can not eat, such as Vegetarians or Lactose intolerant.

I have enclosed a set of recipes that you should be able to have a go at if you can get the ingredients. These dishes cover ingredients that use all of the nutrients you will have just learned about.

You will need to:

  1. Read through each of the weekly PowerPoint presentation lessons.
  2. Complete all of the tasks in each lesson.
  3. Complete the Knowledge Organiser tasks using the Term 5 Food KO.
  4. You may like to work in a combination of forms when completing this project e.g. printing or typing onto the worksheets uploaded here or by working in your green book. When working in your green book please write the title of the worksheet before attempting the tasks.
  5. When you have completed each lesson please photograph your work and email the images to your subject teacher for feedback:

Food Home Learning Page Monday 23rd March - 16th April

  1. Students should complete all application and challenge tasks not yet completed from their T4 Knowledge Organiser. These are to be completed in your new lime green Home Learning book and will be checked on return to school. 
  2. Students should then revisit their terms 1 to 3 Knowledge Organisers to embed previous areas of weakness through quizzing and self-checking in their home learning book.

Year 8 – Food

Read through the Food KO, write out each of the sections and answer the questions. Check your answers. Repeat the task but only copying out what you didn’t get right and then answer the questions again to see if you improve your score.
