      <title>The Lion King comes to The Malling School</title>

<p style="line-height:150%;margin:0cm 0cm 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif'"><font size=3>Principal of The Malling School, Carl Roberts, believes there is a lot of unlocked musical talent among his students and shares with them a heartfelt ambition one day soon to have a full school orchestra to play at school events.<span style="">  </span>To this end, the school has invested in a range of musical instruments for the students to use.<span style="">  </span>Music teacher, Ms Elaine Cox, herself a talented musician, has taught many students to play.<span style="">  </span>She has organised in school tuition for other students, who would not normally have access to the luxury of one to one music lessons. </font></span></p>
<p style="line-height:150%;margin:0cm 0cm 0pt" class=MsoNormal><span style="font-family:'Arial','sans-serif'"><font size=3>As a further step along the way to that school orchestra, and also to inspire students to explore further their musical creativity and talents, the school has formed a partnership with the Eynsford Concert Band.<span style="">  </span>The band has already performed at school events and on <b style="">Friday 16<sup>th</sup> September</b> is coming in to run a series of workshops with the new Year 7 students.<br>Each student will take part in four workshops, lasting 50 minutes each, where they will get to play some of the instruments and will learn a part for the afternoon performance. The workshops will cover brass, woodwind, percussion and also singing.<br>Pupils from across the school (Years 8-11) who play a brass or woodwind instrument already will be taking part as well, as part of the band.<br>In the afternoon the Eynsford Band will play a selection of pieces, finishing with a performance of a section from the Lion King which all the Year 7s will join in with.<br>Pupils from West Malling Primary School and the Discovery School, King’s Hill, have been invited to come in to watch in the afternoon.</font><br style=""><br style=""></span></p></div></div></div>
