Visit our state of the art £150k sports science
laboratory
Students at The
Malling School
enjoy sport and PE lessons
in our fabulous laboratory every day, using the same
standard
of fitness and diagnostic equipment as athletes
preparing for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games might
use.
In 2010 The Malling School installed a brand new hi-tech
sports science laboratory costing £150k to celebrate its
status as a specialist Sports and Science college. The
facility houses a large range of fitness equipment as
well as two further devices providing detailed analysis
of physical output. Using this facility, the
sports department can support the development of
training programmes aimed at improving health and
fitness levels and raising local sporting participation
and achievement.
This means that the laboratory is so much
more than just a health and fitness suite. It's
also a full performance diagnostic centre, of interest
not only to individual members of the community keen to
improve their personal fitness levels, but also to
serious health and sports professionals. It will
provide a level of testing unprecedented in the west of
Kent and possibly in the entire county.

The
Malling School is a mixed 11-18 school which is part of the
Malling Holmesdale
Federation.
This ensures
that our students have
access
to
highly specialised resources and teaching,
with
a high ratio of computers to students
and
every Year 7 student accessing their own laptop.
The school teaches the full curriculum but also
allows students to specialise in the health-focused subjects
of Sports
and Science – increasingly relevant in today’s society.
The school has state-of-the-art facilities in brand new
buildings,
completed in
September 2007. The school is set in unique and extensive
grounds, which include
extensive playing fields,
a
mountain bike track and a
lake.
We have
a full complement of experienced and talented staff
with
a ‘can-do’ attitude. The school has a proven track record in
supporting our students to make the most of their
opportunities and achieve their
potential .
