Year 7 September 2024 Entry - Admissions & Appeal Information

If you would like to appeal for a place at The Malling School please see attached documents below, Secondary School Appeal Form, FAQ sheet, Scheme Statement and a copy of The Malling School’s Generic Defence Statement to aid you in that process. 

If your child is due to start secondary school in September 2024, you can appeal if you are refused a place at one of your preferred schools on National Offer Day (Friday 1 March 2024). You needed to submit your appeal before Thursday 28 March 2024 for it to be considered by Monday 17 June 2024. Any appeals received after this time will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline, or where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education

In-Year Admissions & Appeal Information - September 2023 to July 2024

Applications for in year casual admission to Years 7 to 11 should be made on the IYA form which is available to download from the KCC website.

The application form should be sent directly to the Admissions Officer at The Malling School.

In the event places are not available, applicants will be placed on a waiting list held by the school and ordered according to the over-subscription criteria.

You can also appeal to an independent appeal panel.  Please contact the Local Authority for further guidance and information on the Appeals Process at kent.gov.uk/schooladmissions and read the FAQ’s for In Year Appeals below. Your Appeal should be made in writing via the In Year Appeal Form, addressed to the Headteacher Mr J Vennart and sent to the Admissions Officer.  The appeal hearing will be arranged with you by the KCC Admissions Team.
