Chair of Governors - Mike Perry
I have been involved with The Malling School, as a governor, for many years and for the last nine years have been the chair of governors. My involvement with the school includes close co-operation with the Headteacher and the senior leadership team, as a ‘critical friend’, both advising and supporting the school whilst appropriately challenging the actions of the professional staff.
By profession I am a chartered accountant and for was the managing partner in a well-known firm with local offices. I have business interests in commercial property and equity investment and have previously been involved in internet retailing. My financial background has let me to have a long involvement in finance in schools.
I am passionate about not only helping to give our young people excellent academic outcomes but ensuring that they are happy at school, enjoy their school life and are well prepared for life once they leave us.
Headteacher - Karen Davey
As Headteacher of The Malling School, I feel incredibly privileged to lead a school with such a strong sense of community and ambition for every young person. Having taught Science for over 20 years and been part of The Malling School since 2020, I am passionate about creating an environment where every student feels valued, challenged and inspired to achieve their full potential.
I believe that curiosity and a love of learning are lifelong qualities, and I hope to inspire those values in our students every day. Working alongside our dedicated staff, governors, families and the wider community is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. What I enjoy most is seeing students grow in confidence and celebrating their achievements - whether in the classroom, through sport and the arts, or in the way they develop as kind, resilient and respectful young people. It is a privilege to be part of their journey.

Co-opted Governor - Jennifer Moir
I joined The Malling School as a co-opted governor in 2025, following more than a decade working in education in academic and pastoral leadership roles. I now work in marketing, drawing on my background in education, leadership and communication, alongside a strong belief in the difference a great school can make to a young person’s life.
Living locally, I care deeply about the opportunities available to young people in our community. For me, a great education is about achieving strong academic outcomes while also helping young people discover what they are capable of, find things they care about and develop the confidence to step into the world beyond school. That includes opportunities to be active, enjoy movement and develop healthy habits that support their wellbeing.
I am particularly passionate about helping pupils become independent thinkers who can question, evaluate and make sense of the world around them. As a governor, I want to help make The Malling School a place where every pupil feels safe, known and valued, is encouraged to aim high, and leaves with the confidence, skills and ambition to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.

Teacher Governor - Greg Keating
I have taught Computer Science for 16 years and have been part of The Malling School since 2020. During this time, I have developed a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by both our students and staff, as well as the importance of working together to support the continued development of the school.
I became a Staff Governor in 2024, allowing me to contribute to the wider strategic direction of the school while bringing the perspective and experience of a member of staff to the Governing Body. I value the opportunity to work alongside governors, leaders and colleagues to help shape decisions that have a positive and lasting impact on our school community.
I am particularly interested in behaviour, attendance, digital safety and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) ensuring that all students are supported effectively and able to engage fully in school life.
